Lighting of the Christ Candle:
We light this light in the name of God the Creator who said “Let there be light” and there was light.
We light this light in the name of God in Jesus, light of the world.
We light this light in the name of God, Holy Spirit: Light in our darkness, a lamp to our path.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
Let us keep a moment of silence and become aware of God's light within ourselves and all around.

We gather to worship by the ocean, by the forest, by the lakes, and in settlements
As the Mi'kmaq people have done since before time immemorial, since before the settlers arrived,
since before Canada was a nation.
As we come to worship Creator -in the ways we know God- we humbly acknowledge :
God already was, already is, already here!

Opening Prayer ++
God, raise our expectations as we worship today.
Do not leave us content to settle for a feel good moment, for a tidbit of usable wisdom, for a momentary easing of stress. Let us come seeking an encounter with the Risen Christ so that we may be transformed to become his living body for the world. In that holy name we pray. Amen.
